Meet Ted – a true gentleman looking for his forever home 💙
Ted is a lovely 7-year-old Basset Hound cross who came into our care through no fault of his own, after his owner was sadly no longer able to care for him. From the moment he arrived, Ted has been an absolute delight and has completely stolen the hearts of everyone on the team.
Ted is a very polite boy with beautiful manners and gentle, friendly greetings. True to his hound heritage, he adores following his nose and would be happiest enjoying relaxed, sniffy walks where he can explore the world at his own pace.
He is highly food motivated (as his current figure might suggest!) and would benefit from a little weight management to help keep him healthy and comfortable. Maintaining a healthy weight is especially important for Ted’s joints, as he is low to the ground. Ramps and the occasional helping hand up onto furniture will help keep him safe and supported.
Ted is an entire male and will require castration when he is ready. At present, he does have a tendency to scent mark, but this is expected to reduce once he is settled into a home environment and following neutering.
Ted can be quite strong on the lead, so some ongoing training will help make walks more enjoyable and manageable. He is calm around other dogs, but Ted would prefer to be the only pet in the home so he can soak up all the love and attention.
Ted could happily live with dog-savvy children who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs. In return, he offers a calm, affectionate presence and the companionship of a truly wonderful boy.
If you’re looking for a gentle, characterful hound to share your life with, Ted could be the perfect addition to your family.
