Every day, our animal rescue charity welcomes frightened, injured, and abandoned animals who urgently need medical help. Whether they are strays, victims of neglect, or much-loved pets whose owners can no longer care for them, they all share one thing: They need our help.

When Olivia arrived, she had nowhere else to go.
She was one of fifteen cats that had been living in a one-bedroom flat.
All of the cats had a infestation of ear mites and a heavy flea burden.
Olivia was understandably nervous and in pain with dental disease, both upper canines were loose and infected and other teeth broken and painful.
She was provided with antibiotics, pain relief, and treatment for parasites, followed by an urgent dental procedure.
Olivia was safe, fed, and cared for.
Sadly her rough start didn’t end there.
Not long after settling in, we discovered an abdominal lump that needed urgent investigation and surgery to remove.
Thanks to quick action and expert care, Olivia came through her operation safely and continued to grow stronger each day.
Her arrival at CDCH marked the beginning of Olivia’s recovery.
We gave her nutritious food and a warm, quiet place to rest and settle.
Today, she’s a healthy, confident cat who finally knows what love feels like.
Olivia soon found a dedicated and loving adopter and the second chance she deserved.
Livvie has settled in really well. She’s very affectionate, loves sitting on the arm of the chair bunting her head for attention.
She enjoys curling up on the sofa and has a favourite log in the garden. She’s quite small and clearly loved in her past. She’s never far away and comes running when she’s called.

Throughout 2025, our animal rescue teams have faced an overwhelming increase in calls for help.
Every day, frightened animals arrive in urgent need, from stray dogs and abandoned kittens to beloved pets whose owners can no longer afford their care.
This winter, it’s a race against time to bring animals in from the cold.
Food, warmth, and medical care can mean the difference between survival and heartbreak.
Your support ensures we can be there, ready to provide life-saving treatment, comfort, and hope to every animal who needs us this Christmas and beyond.
This Christmas, the need to support animals has surged, reflecting a significant rise in requests for our services.
Last year, CDCH assisted over 1,000 animals, but escalating expenses and the ongoing cost of living crisis have intensified the demand for our assistance.
Additionally, we’re frequently caring for more animals with complex needs, which prolongs and deepens the rehoming process.
Each animal needs dedicated care, time, and love so they can live a happy, bright future.
Your kindness can transform a life.
Your donation provides warmth for a shivering cat, treatment for a dog in pain, and a safe place for a frightened pet to rest.
By donating to our Big Give Christmas Appeal, you’ll help us reach our £15,000 target ensuring no animal is left behind this winter.
Every donation made between 2nd – 9th December will be doubled via the Big Give Link
