This little fella is Bert!

He is a sweet chap, but didn’t have the best start in life, so now finds himself a little worried of the world around him. Being only 7 months old, has has so much learning still to do, so needs a quiet home with patient and understanding owners who will gently teach him that life doesn’t need to be so scary.

Bert has formed close bonds with his handlers here at the centre – he loves their company and will often get excited zoomies, before curling up on their lap for a much needed nap.

He has shown himself to have some of the typical traits associated with Chihuahua’s, such as being very noise sensitive, and barking at strangers or trying to get away, due to this, his new owners will need to be willing to slowly build up his confidence through training and reassurance. He seems to have missed out on all of the important experiences and life lessons a puppy needs – he does not yet know that toys are for playing and is not yet fully housetrained, so his new family will need to be happy to teach him these things. It would be great if there was an existing calm and confident dog in the home that he can learn from as well as enjoy some companionship with.

Bert does not like being left alone and craves company, so would benefit from someone who is around a lot and can give him time – hopefully if there is another dog, he will eventually be happy in their company, and can live a more independent life.

If you feel like you could give Bert a loving and patient new start, where he can learn and grow in to a more confident and sociable dog, then do let us know by filling out a perfect match for below.
