Berry is a special pup who is on the search for her forever home and friend!

This gorgeous girl entered CDCH’s care as she was removed from a multi dog household due to neglect. Berry‘s past has sadly had a big effect on her confidence due to her lack of experiences with the world around her. She is very shy and nervous of new people and environments, however, her playful personality has started to shine through while spending time in a patient and understanding foster home, alongside a confident companion dog.

As humans have previously let Berry down, all she has ever known and is the company of other dog’s, therefore, she thrives in their presence. Due to this, we would either be looking for a family who already has an existing, confident dog(s), or a home that has frequent access to other calm and confident dogs  she can regularly socialise with. She is still young, and can be very playful and interactive with other dogs, as well as liking to share their space (beds included) so her new canine companion would need to be comfortable with this.

Berry‘s fosterer carers have taken on a ‘hands-off’ approach to build her confidence and trust, allowing Berry to warm to them on her own terms. Day-by-day she has started to build a closer bond with them and enjoys being in their company – she’s even taken to snuggling up on the back of the sofa next to them! She can be worried by physical touch from humans so will need a home that is very understanding and patient, and carers who don’t expect too much from her to quickly, allowing her time to fully settle before exploring areas away from the home and garden.

We believe that in the right environment, Berry will continue to grow in confidence, especially with humans who can offer her the support and patience she needs. It would be beneficial for her new carer giver to have experience and confidence with nervous dogs.

It’s understandable why Berry prefers the quieter side to life so would be best suited to a rural or semi rural location, and quiet home that don’t have to many coming and goings, especially in the early stages. Due to her nervous nature, she will be best suited to a calm an adult only home.

If you feel you could offer Berry the loving home she deserves, please fill out a perfect match form.
