Foster an Adult Cat

Could you provide a foster home (or room) for an adult cat (or two)?

CDCH often have cats arrive in our care, who may be expecting to stay at CDCH for a longer length of time, therefore would benefit greatly from a foster space and homely environment. This arrangement can also be perfect for cat lovers who are craving the company of a feline friend, but who but are unable to commit to ownership at this time.

Cat foster carers should be able to provide a cat safe space or room in their home, where they can have 24/7 hour access too all their needed resources, including litter trays, food and water, as well as climbing posts etc (which will be provided by CDCH). Foster cats will need to remain indoors at all times and should be kept safe/separate from other pets, unless assessed as suitable to interact (a separate room is essential if other pets and children are in the home).

Occassionally foster cats may require a veterinary visit during their stay in foster, for vaccinations or health checks, therefore, carers should be willing to return to the centre if needed. Not all cats arrive confident and well socialised, therefore, foster carers would ideally be open to considering those with a slightly more nervous nature if suitable (cats will always be assessed and suitably matched to their foster home).

• Children: This will be dependent on the individual cats needs – we accept foster homes with children of any age, however, young children should be supervised when socialising with any foster animal. Some cate would benefit from a calm and quiet space.
• Other pets: Adult foster cats mostly prefer to avoid contact with other cats, therefore, need to be the only cats in the home. Other pets may be considered, so long as the cats can be kept safe/ avoid socialisation, and the environment is kept stress free.
• Length of foster: Adult cat foster can vary – short term (2-8 weeks), or long term (8 weeks +)
• Ideal foster location: within 30 minute drive of the centre GL2 7AS.
