Duchess is a 5-year-old English Bulldog with an adorable toothy grin.
She came to our centre with her 2-day-old pups and has been an incredibly doting mother, and now that her pups are weaned and ready to start their own adventures, Duchess is ready to do the same and find a home to call her own.
In the true nature of an English bulldog, Duchess prefers a slower pace of life, so will be quite happy to enjoy some slow plods in the countryside, before returning to her favourite spot for daily naps, where she can serenade her family with her delightful snores. She is quite the foody too, so loves playing games to get her brain working, like ‘find the treat’. Ideally her adopters would have time to spend with her during the day, and to help her adjust to her new home.
This sweet girl is looking for a quiet home where she can finally relax and enjoy life, and get all the belly rubs she deserves and loves. Due to her slightly nervous nature, she would do best in a calm environment, ideally without young children, as loud noises and fast movements tend to unsettle her. We are unsure of her past, but since arriving in our care, she’s been a little overwhelmed by her new experiences, so will need adopters who can offer her a slow, patient approach while she gains confidence. In time, Duchess will reveal her lovable, goofy personality, and you’ll find that she’s an incredibly affectionate girl who loves cuddles and attention.
Duchess is due to be spayed 30/1/25, and we are hoping to find her new home to settle straight in to after her recovery (start of February), so her adopters will need to be willing to visit her on multiple occasions prior to this to build a bond.
Medical Needs:
Duchess has shown some symptoms of a condition called ‘dry eye’ during her time on our care, which includes irritation and weepiness. We have been treating this with regular eye drops to keep her comfortable, however, our vet team will be investigating this further during her operation, and we will be able to confirm this following the procedure. If confirmed, then she will require daily eye drops and occasional checks ins with her vet for the rest of her life, and may be prone to additional complications in future, so it’s important that her new family are prepared to support her with her ongoing care and costs.
If you’re looking for a docile and affectionate companion, who likes to keep life in the slow lane, then Duchess may be the perfect match for you.
