Zorro is a big goofy pup, with a lovable nature and an enthusiasm for life. This boy adores humans and regularly displays his affectionate side through cuddles and kisses, though he hasn’t quite realised his size and will often climb onto his handler’s lap, completely unaware that he doesn’t quite fit!
Zorro is always eager to greet people, though his excitement sometimes gets the best of him, as he has a tendency to jump up, so he’ll need some guidance with basic manners, including polite introductions, lead walking, and learning to keep all four paws on the ground. He’s a big foody with a keen interest in treats, so with some patience and perseverance form his adopters (as he can lose focus sometimes), we know he has got the ability to learn so much more.
Having such a friendly nature means that Zorro could live with children, but due to his size and excitement levels, a home with older kids, around 13 years and up, would be best. He’s still learning not to mouth when overstimulated, so confident handlers who can continue his training will help him develop into a well-mannered adult.
At home, Zorro is a bit of a scavenger and will happily help himself to food or some of the chewable items he may find, therefore, he’ll need plenty of tough enrichment and an adopter who can spend time with him in the early stages, helping him settle in and teaching him how to be left alone safely. To keep him from picking up things he shouldn’t while out on walks, he’s currently undergoing positive muzzle training, and with time and patience, he’ll learn that his meals are the only food he needs.
Zorro is a healthy and strong boy, and hasn’t yet been neutered, so this will need to be carried out when he reaches the appropriate age- this is included as part of his adoption pack, and adopters will need to arrange to return to CDCH at a later date (maximum travel distance would be 1.5 hours). Considerations would be that until this is done, he won’t be able to go off-lead in public or mix with un-neutered female dogs.
With the right guidance and support, Zorro will make a wonderful companion for an active and fun loving family, who is prepared for a bit of mischief. If you think he sounds like the match for you, then complete a perfect match form below:
