Meet Buddy – A Bright, Energetic Companion Looking for His Forever Home

Buddy is a bright and affectionate six-year-old Collie who’s full of character. Like many Collies, he’s intelligent, energetic, and forms deep bonds with the people he trusts. Since arriving at the centre through no fault of his own, Buddy has found kennel life quite stressful – but as he gets to know his carers, he’s beginning to relax and show his sweet, playful nature.

Buddy can be wary and anxious around unfamiliar people, especially in new or unpredictable situations. He needs a calm, patient home where introductions can be taken at his pace, allowing him the time and space to feel safe and secure. Once he knows you, Buddy is incredibly loving and loyal – always ready to share a cuddle or initiate a game of fetch.

His new family should be understanding of his sensitivity and committed to building his confidence through gentle, reward-based training. A quieter household, ideally without frequent visitors, would suit him best. Ongoing support and a consistent routine will help Buddy continue to grow in confidence and settle into his new life.

Buddy is a high-energy dog who thrives on mental stimulation and physical exercise. He’ll need plenty of enrichment – such as puzzle toys, training games, and long countryside walks – to keep his busy brain and active body engaged. While he loves activity, he also enjoys downtime and is happy to curl up for a snooze once he’s had his fill of fun.

Buddy can find it difficult to cope when left alone and will need a home where someone is around for most of the day, especially during the early stages of settling in. He will benefit from gradual, structured support to help him feel more comfortable with short periods on his own.

Although Buddy has walked with other dogs at the centre, he can be a little unsure of “over the top” greetings and prefers calm, predictable canine company. Continued controlled socialisation with other dogs on walks will help maintain his confidence and maintain his doggy friends.

Buddy has previously lived with children and could live with calm, dog-savvy youngsters aged 13 and over who understand when he needs space and are happy to engage with him in the ways he enjoys most.

With the right support and understanding, Buddy has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a sensitive but loving dog who will repay your patience with loyalty and affection, Buddy could be the one for you.
