Meet Buddy – A Bright, Energetic Companion Looking for His Forever Home

Buddy is a lively and affectionate six-year-old Collie who’s full of energy and charm. He’s a wonderful example of his breed – intelligent, active, and always up for a game. Since arriving at the centre through no fault of his own and is finding kennel life quite stressful. Although he is quickly coming out of his shell and showing everyone he is a loving, social boy who forms strong bonds with the people around him.

As a high-energy dog with a busy brain, Buddy is looking for a home that can match his enthusiasm for life. He thrives on both physical activity and mental stimulation, so it’s important his new family has the time and commitment to keep him engaged. Long walks, ongoing training, enrichment games, and interactive play sessions are all high on Buddy’s wish list. That being said, Buddy loves a snooze and a cuddle and is happy to rest after a long day of exploring and playing.

Buddy would love a home where someone is around for most of the day, or where time can be invested in helping him feel comfortable with being left alone, as he can become anxious when people leave him. He would benefit from ongoing support to work through these separation concerns at a gentle, manageable pace.

Buddy is a very social dog who  regularly walks with fellow canines at the centre and has shown himself to be tolerant and gentle in these interactions. He could happily live with another dog of similar energy levels, or be the only dog in the home with opportunities to continue socialising with other dogs out and about. He has previously lived with children and would be best suited to a home with dog savvy children aged 13 or above who can give him space when he needs it, and join in with his favourite games when he’s feeling playful.

Although Buddy can be a little wary of unfamiliar people at first, he’s quick to warm up with the right introductions. Once he knows someone, he’s eager to make friends and usually invites them to join in a game of fetch!
