Crumpet is a 3-year-old French Bulldog with plenty of character!
Sadly, this boy has has an unfortunate start to his young life, having experienced multiple homes already – he is now looking to find a stable and understanding adult only home, with adopters who can show him plenty of patience and stability.
Crumpet is an affectionate and goofy little guy once he gets to know you and feels comfortable. He is always bringing smiles to his carers faces with his silly antics and love for his toys – which he enjoys carrying around, playing with, and even suckling for comfort. Crumpet is great on walks, where he’s quite happy to trot by his carers side – he will usually ignore other dogs, and is happy to walk alongside other well mannered dogs, he would not want to share his home with one, so will need to be the only pet.
This cutey needs a family who understands the importance of taking things at his pace, and who are willing to learn his quirks. He is a dog who appreciates routine and familiarity, so a calm home with structure and minimal visitors would suit him best. Due to his initial reservations, he has previously shown a bit of space guarding behaviour, which quickly faded after a few days in the home once he felt secure. An environment which can provide him with a safe space to himself will help him adjust more smoothly, but the CDCH team are happy to assist adopters with additional advise and support them through this.
Crumpet forms strong bonds gradually, so he’ll thrive with people who are willing to build trust before attempting too much physical affection. With his space respected, Crumpet will soon become a devoted family member, who loves to snuggle and show his softer side. He’s generally more comfortable with women, though he can build a rapport with men too – it just takes a little extra time.
When Crumpet initially came in to the care of CDCH, he was suffering from a severe skin infection, caused by untreated allergies – his coat is now in great condition, however, this is managed with on-going dietary support, so he will need to remain on a specific hypoallergenic food. His carers are gradually helping him to learn to enjoy being bathed, as this will help with future skincare, so patience and positive reinforcement will be key to continuing his comfort with this.
Despite his quirks, once you understand crumpet and he has learnt to trust, he is a loving, playful, and funny companion with a real sensitive side. We already know that in the right home, Crumpet can be the super happy and affectionate boy he is meant to be. If you’re ready for a unique, devoted friend with plenty of personality, Crumpet can’t wait to meet you! (Please expect multiple visits to the centre to get to know him)
