Introducing Dex,

Dex is an energetic, one year old collie who loves to run and play. As a collie, Dex has a lot of energy and a busy brain, so it is important that his adopters have a lot of time for him and keep him physically and mentally stimulated. We are looking for a family with an active lifestyle who would be keen to continue with Dex’s training. Due to Dex’s energy levels and playful nature it would be beneficial for his new adopters to have previous experience of a high energy breed.

Upon arrival at the centre, Dex found kennel life quite stressful but has quickly come out of shell and has turned into an affectionate and loving dog.

Whilst still being a young dog, Dex has a lot to learn and experience, he can sometimes be a little unsure around new objects and surroundings, so needs a home that can offer him lots of reassurance and will be understanding whilst he gains more confidence. He needs a family who are committed to continuing his obedience training as he needs to learn further lead manners and recall.

Dex is a social dog who wants to play with every dog he meets and has a very energetic and expressive playstyle. He could live in a home with another dog of similar activity levels or in a home where he is the only dog, so long as he had a network of canine companions to socialise with on walks. He has been used to living with children so would be suitable to live with children 10 years or above. He has shown mild signs of traffic chasing so will benefit from living in a rural or semi rural location, where his new family will be able to continue the desensitisation work that has begun here.

If you have an outdoorsy and active lifestyle, then Dex could be the match for you!
