Duchess is a 5-year-old English Bulldog with an adorable toothy grin.

This sweet lady arrived at the centre along with her 2-day-old pups, and after spending her initial weeks being an incredibly doting mother, she is now ready to find a home to call her own, where she can receive the care, love and companionship she deserves and needs.

In the true nature of an English bulldog, Duchess prefers a slower pace of life, so is ideally seeking an adopter who is happy to offer her a chilled lifestyle. Once she has adjusted to her new home, she will likely benefit from some slow plods in the countryside, before returning to her favourite spot for daily naps, where she can serenade her family with her delightful snores.

Duchess has had a sheltered past, which has resulted in her being very nervous natured, and sometimes fearful or new experiences, so her adopters will need to be very understanding and patient while settling her in, and happy to gently work on her confidence in the home. Due to her worries, Duchess is desperately seeking a quiet household, with minimal visitors, so she can finally relax and feel safe.

With a gentle start, we hope that in time, Duchess will reveal her lovable, goofy personality, and incredibly affectionate side, which we have seen during her stay with us. Ideally her adopters would have time to spend with her during the day, and to help her adjust to her new home, so she has the company she thrives on. She is currently staying short term in a loving foster home, and has been an incredibly sweet girl, often shadowing her carers, taking lap naps, giving kisses and asking for belly rubs in return.

Medical Needs:

Duchess has shown some symptoms of a condition called ‘dry eye’ during her time on our care, which includes irritation and weepiness. We have been treating this with regular eye drops to keep her comfortable and she will likely need to continue this in her new home.
