Elsie is our sweet 5 year old Jack Russel who is craving a home, where she can enjoy the company of her adopters most of the time.

This pint sized cutey arrived in kennels through no fault of her own, and has really struggle with the new environment – this is because she craves nothing more than  human companionship. Elsie has frequently joined the CDCH office team for company during the day, where she has often ended up snoozing on laps, which is where she seems most happy.

Elsie absolutely loves people and has been happy to steal fuss and cuddles from anyone she meets. Having spent a short time in foster already, we have learnt that Elsie is a lovely little pup to have around, as long as she can be your shadow, as she will want to follow you everywhere you go! Elsie does have severe separation anxiety, so would be best suited to a family who can guarantee she will not be left for most of the day, allowing her to join them on their daily adventures, snuggles on the sofa and potentially even making a space for her in their bedroom while she settles in. She would benefit from gradual introductions to short periods of time alone, so adopters who are happy to work on this anxiety would be ideal.

Once Elsie is settled in the home, she is generally quite relaxed and so long as she can keep one eye on her humans, will often sleep, or potter around the house and garden. She can be a little tentative on walks, which is likely due to minimal experiences in her previous home, so her adopters should be happy to take things at her pace.

Since being in our care and having spent time in a foster home, we have discovered Elsie’s love for other dogs – she seems to seek them out and gets comfort from their company (we also know she lived with two dogs in her previous home). Due to this, we think Elsie would really benefit from a home with another dog for companionship = she can be quite needy and invasive of their space (beds included) and enjoys getting their attention, so her perfect match would be a very friendly and tolerant dog who doesn’t mind this. If they were young and playful, this may help. Elsie has been very good around cats as long as they are dog savvy and don’t show aggression towards her – they will need to be provided with their own space for careful introductions.

Elsie is currently booked in to be neutered on 5/09/2024, therefore, anyone considering adoption, will need to return to the centre on this date for our veterinary team to carry out the procedure (this will be included in the adoption pack). If you live further than a 1.5 hr travel distance of the centre, a neuter voucher will be provided – this can be used towards the procedure at a more local vet, however, may not cover the full fee.

If you are looking for a little side kick of your own, and don’t mind a do g like Elsie, who will need a little reassurance from her family, then register your interest – COMPLETE A PERFECT MATCH FORM HERE!
