Five Spice is a young guinea pig who arrived at the centre, sadly after being attacked by a rabbit, causing him injury which required veterinary treatment. Thankfully, with some much needed TLC, Five spice has made a full recovery and is fighting fit once more, so is now on the look out for a loving home and friendly piggy companion to settle in with.

Although only around 11 months old, Five Spice has already had two homes, and due to his past, it’s no surprise that it has taken him a little time to come out of his shell, with him still being nervous and wary of handling (he will often avoid being picked up if he can). He has definitely made improvements while in his foster home, and has started to feel brave enough to peek out of his hidey to grab his favourite treats from his foster carers hand, however, he is easily spooked and will quickly retreat back to his safe spot if any sudden movements are made.

Despite his shyness, Five spice has a sweet nature and has never been aggressive when handled for vet visits. We have even started to see glimpses of his cute personality, and have no doubt that he will become a wonderful little chap in the right home.

He is ideally looking for calm and understanding adopter(s), who will be happy to allow him time to grow in confidence and build trust in their company – this can be done with a gentle approach and minimal handling, instead, spending time with him daily – offering dandelion leaves & parsley will soon have him venturing out to meet you. He would be best suited to a home with no young children to worry him and would benefit from being housed indoors (although we are sure he would love to spend time in the grass in the warmer months)!

We are aware that Five Spice has previously lived with a guinea pig, however, we are unsure of how he will react to being reintroduced, therefore, a home with someone who is  confident with carrying out the initial bonding process would be beneficial. As he is neutered, he can live with either a friendly female or male piggy, who are not too dominant.

If you think that you could help Five Spice to feel safe, and have a lonely guinea pig you think would be a good match, then complete a perfect match form below:

Please note – the minimum cage size for two guinea pigs should be 120cm x 60cm x 45cm, however, we always advise you provide them with as much space as possible.
