Meet Gus, a 9-year-old Standard Schnauzer and a true distinguished gentleman who is now seeking his forever home.

Gus is a charming, silver-bearded gent who has all the wisdom of age paired with plenty of classic schnauzer spirit. He is a sweet and affectionate boy who adores human company. A good neck scratch is his absolute weakness, and he’s never one to say no to a bit of fuss. He can find being left alone tricky, so his ideal home would be with someone who is around most of the day, or who has the time and flexibility to help him gently build confidence with alone time.

True to his breed, he has a high prey drive and loves to chase – cats, squirrels, you name it – so he will need a home without cats or small animals. He also came to us following a disagreement with the other dog in his previous home, meaning Gus would be happiest as the only dog, where he can enjoy all the attention to himself. He would do well in a home who is eager to work on his socialisation around other dogs and take things at his pace.

Despite his older age, Gus is an active boy who absolutely loves his walks and would thrive with an active individual or family. He’s also very keen on tennis balls, which are guaranteed to win you his heart.

Finally, any prospective adopter should be prepared for the important responsibility of regular grooming – after all, those iconic schnauzer eyebrows don’t keep themselves looking perfect!
