We have had an un-expected arrival of 7 Lurcher x puppies, who are only 11 weeks of age and require nurturing homes.
These puppies have already reached their key stages of learning, so we are keen to start their socialisation journeys as soon as possible. We are happy to consider temporary foster homes to help us care for them, and offer them a safe and loving environment over the next few weeks, or forever families who are seeking a more permanent addition to their home, so long as they are ready to welcome a puppy and prepared for all the challenges it may bring.
Families will need to keep in mind that these puppies have had minimal medical or behavioural assessment at this time, but they have already shown us their cheeky and sprightly personalities, and will flourish with the right care, compassion and guidance. The CDCH care and veterinary teams are here through every step of their introductions.
What type of Foster Homes are we looking for:
✅Local Homes (ideally 30-40 minute travel distance) – this is so that we can maintain their initial medical and behavioural assessments.
✅Flexibility – foster carers will need to be happy to return the puppies to the centre for arranged appointments – this may include a vet visit, and viewings to meet potential families when ready.
✅Time to dedicate – the puppies are at their key stages of learning and socialisation, so will need their carers to be around for most of the day, and happy to work on basic training needs.
✅Children – we will consider homes with children, however, these puppies can be quite excitable and mouthy, so parents will need to be prepared to supervise interactions.
✅Existing pets – we will consider existing pets, so long as appropriate introductions are made. Existing dogs will need to be tolerant of puppy behaviour and up to date with vaccinations.
We expect this to be a short term foster agreement (up to 1 month), so carers will need to be prepared to say goodbye once their forever homes are found. Fostering is free – CDCH will provide all the resources needed for the duration. To register your interest in fostering, click ‘HERE‘
Forever Homes:
If you would be keen to offer a more permanent home to a puppy, then adopters will need to be available to complete our full process with no delay, and should be happy to return to the centre at a later date to complete their medical journey. Adoption donations are £600 – which is inclusive of all their initial medical needs.
Apply to adopt by completing a perfect match form below (if you are a registered adopter or foster carer, then get in touch by email).
