Mac is the kind of dog who stays with you – not just for his intelligence or love for life, but for everything he’s quietly overcome.
He came into our care as part of an RSPCA case with his sister ‘Cheese’ at just 3 months old. While she was lucky enough to grow up in a foster home, Mac spent those important early months in kennels, learning to cope in a much harder environment.
When he finally experienced foster life, he showed exactly who he could be. With patience and guidance, Mac blossomed – building confidence, learning about the world, and forming strong bonds with his carers. Sadly, through no fault of his own, those homes couldn’t be permanent, and each time he returned to kennels, he had to start again.
Mac is now a bold, active and intelligent young dog who thrives on engagement and purpose. He loves play, tug-of-war, splashing through water, and getting out on adventure-filled walks, often taking on the role of “chief lookout” along the way.
Despite this, Mac is a sensitive dog who can find the world overwhelming at times. He would benefit from a calm, quiet home with experienced and patient adopters who can provide consistency, clear boundaries, and his own separate safe space in the home where he can decompress and adjust at his own pace.
He has fantastic recall and regularly checks in with his handler for reassurance if he finds himself having big feelings about something. Mac is social with other dogs, but can be overexcited and a little full-on, so will need gradual introductions and guidance to help him stay calm.
Mac is looking for someone who can continue to guide him and help him feel safe in the world. In return, he will be a loyal, fun, and deeply rewarding companion who will share your adventures and form a truly special bond.
He has already come so far. Now he just needs someone to take him the rest of the way.
