Meet Maple – a little terrier with a huge heart.

Maple is a 2-year-old Jack Russell who came into our care as a devoted new mum with her tiny 3-day-old puppy. She was quickly placed in a caring foster home where she was able to comfortably raise him in a calm and stable environment. Over the following weeks, she showed us just how loving, gentle and maternal she can be, doting on her pup and teaching him how to play and explore. Now that her pup has found his forever home, it’s Maple’s turn to find hers.

Maple is absolutely adorable and bursting with affection. She loves nothing more than zooming around the house and garden, followed by curling up for a nap right next to you – or better still, on you! She is a real little shadow who enjoys keeping an eye on the comings and goings of the household and following her people from room to room, though she also settles nicely on her own and could be left for short periods.

She is quick to make friends with women but can be very wary of men and may bark at new people. With patience, kindness and time, Maple learns to trust and becomes very accepting and affectionate. Her ideal home will understand the importance of letting her build relationships at her own pace.

True to her terrier nature, Maple is super playful. She loves games of fetch and tug and has a particular soft spot for squeaky toys. She’s a clever girl, very food motivated and genuinely enjoys training, especially when treats and praise are involved.

On walks, Maple can be reactive to other dogs and will need ongoing, positive training to help build her confidence in this area. She is eager to learn and would thrive with a family committed to continuing her socialisation and helping her grow into a more confident dog.

Maple could live with dog-savvy older children who are happy to respect her boundaries while she gets to know them. In return, they’ll gain a loyal, loving companion who has so much affection to give.

If you’re looking for a sweet, playful and devoted little dog and have the patience to help her blossom, Maple could be the perfect addition to your family.
