Introducing you to our gorgeous ginger tom – Mr Grimble!

This handsome fella is now looking for a special home, with some loving and understanding adopters, who would be happy to take on his medical needs.

Mr Grimble was diagnosed as being diabetic on arrival at the centre, and we are pleased to say he has found his way in to a wonderful foster home, where he is receiving all the care and TLC he needs to thrive. Thankfully, his diagnosis has not dampened his spirit, and is enjoying life, being a wonderful companion and all round cheeky boy!

He may be a little shy on arrival, but once he’s found his people, he sticks to them like glue, so would appreciate someone who can be around for a good part of the day. He is a great shadow master, and likes to follow his foster carers around – they have even found he has a slight obsession with water, and often tries to join them for their daily bathing routine! He often likes to start the night sleeping in the bed with his carer, but will often happily take himself off somewhere, and being a typical ginger, has naughty traits, having been caught trying to steal snacks from the fridge when their back is turned.

Adoption expectations:

Mr Grimble’s diabetes is being kept stable through regular monitoring, daily injections (which he is not worried by) and a special diet, therefore, if maintained, should be able to live a happy and fulfilling life, so long as his adopters are vigilant and on board with managing his condition. Due to diabetes being easier to manage in a controlled environment, Mr Grimble’s will need to remain an indoor cat, and be given lots of opportunities for interaction, play and enrichment throughout the day).

CDCH are going to be looking to offer a supported adoption to any local homes, where our veterinary team can continue to monitor his condition, covering related medical costs and vet care.

What managing diabetes may entail:

  • Daily insulin injections – the adopter will need to be comfortable administering this themselves (training will be provided). This will also mean that needles will need to be kept within the property, and disposed of correctly, using a sharps box provided.
  • Maintain a specialised diet
  • Vet visits at CDCH every 3-6 months for urine tests/ and to replace his freestyle libra device, which records his levels.
