Say hello to Oscar!
Oscar is a Malamute x GSD who has found himself looking for a new home through no fault of his own.
He’s best described as a gentle giant as he’s incredibly friendly and loves to greet his favourite people with a waggy tail and sloppy kiss. He has a friendly, approachable and loving nature towards any human that has the pleasure of meeting him. Oscar could live with teenage children, who would need to be partial to giving him a tummy tickle when he asks! The children would need to be familiar with large breed dogs.
Oscar prefer the leisurely side to life as he enjoys spending his time chilling in the garden or snoozing in the coolest spot in the house that he can find! He would be best suited to a laidback family who enjoy countryside walks and cosying up at home. He may be a large breed dog but is a very well balanced adult dog who takes everything in his stride and has excellent lead and house manners; this makes him easy to manage in and outside the home as he knows the basics already.
He has been social with other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog in the home as he prefers to have all the attention on him! Oscar can be (understandably) unsure of bouncy/over the top dog’s in his face so it’s best to give these dog’s a wide birth when walking.
He has shown anxieties around vet handling and grooming which a new home will need to be prepared to build his confidence with. He has begun a desensitisation plan towards grooming here at the centre which he is doing brilliantly with – his new family will need to commit to continuing this plan as he will need grooming regularly.
