This sweet pint-sized pup is Pixie – a 5 year old Chihuahua!

Weighing in at just under 3kg, you can understand why this teeny lady is finding kennel life a little bit scary, however, it didn’t take long for her to capture the hearts of everyone at the centre, and she has soon ended up spending her nights in foster with a member of staff.

Pixie has been a delightful companion to her foster carer, showing off how well behaved she is in the home. She is calm, cuddly and super cute – what more could you want? Of course, there is more to Pixie then just being sweet to look at – she loves her little daily adventures, where she walks very well on lead (she will join her favourite human pretty much anywhere they want to go, so long as she can feel protected and safe), she is very affectionate and attentive to those she has made friends with, getting super excited to see them and often participating in some excited zoomies, and she is very responsive to her name, making her a good listener.

Pixie can be a little worried by strangers trying to fuss her, therefore, she is ideally looking for a quiet home with minimal comings and goings from visitors, so that she doesn’t have to feel stressed by people entering her home – children 15 years + will be considered, so long as they can be understanding of her initial nerves. Saying this, with a gentle approach, it doesn’t take her long to make friends and build trust, and by showing understanding, you will soon have her scooching on to your lap and giving kisses.

Pixie has previously been used to being in the company of her humans most of the time, therefore, finds it very difficult being left alone, often getting quite stressed. Due to this, her adopters will need to be able to keep her company most of the time, while slowly working on her confidence around being left for short periods.
