Poco

Poco is a sensitive and sweet-natured poodle cross who is ready to begin the next chapter of his life with a kind and understanding family.

At nearly five years old, Poco has spent his life so far in a rural farm setting, which means he’s had limited exposure to the outside world. As such, he can be nervous in new environments and is still learning how to navigate the sights and sounds of life beyond the farm.

Since coming into our care, Poco has made steady progress and is doing well learning to walk on a harness and lead – something he’d never experienced before. He walks beautifully by your side, but loud or unfamiliar noises and sudden movements can still make him jump. He finds reassurance in human contact and loves to stay close to his trusted person, leaning in for comfort when he’s feeling unsure.

Poco hasn’t yet discovered the joy of play or toys, and he’s still figuring out what it means to just be a dog. With time, patience, and encouragement, we believe his playful side will begin to shine. He is a clever boy and loves learning with treats, he’ll soon have all the tricks mastered. He would thrive with a family who can help build his confidence at his own pace, while introducing him to new experiences in a gentle and supportive way.

He may benefit from living with a calm, confident resident dog who can help show him the ropes and offer some extra reassurance – though this isn’t essential, and he could also do well as the only dog in a home which can provide him with lots of company.

Due to his background, Poco is best suited to a quiet, rural home where the pace of life is slower and the environment less overwhelming. A home with a secure garden where he can safely explore would be ideal.
