Become a short-term puppy foster carer for CDCH!

Are you a gentle, patient and animal loving human, who could offer short term care for puppies in desperate need? CDCH is seeking loving foster homes to provide short-term care for puppies on an ad-hoc basis.

What Does Puppy Fostering Involve?

Puppies are at a crucial stage in their lives, and benefit hugely from a stable home environment, which kennels cannot offer. Due to this, when puppies arrive in our care, we often look to place them with foster families while we search for their forever homes, so by registering as a puppy foster carer, we may get in touch when we need your support.

As a foster carer, you’ll provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment, helping with:

  • Basic training (e.g., toilet training, learning simple commands).
  • Socialisation to prepare puppies for their forever homes.
  • Day to day care, such as extra feeds, play sessions and sleeping routines

We need foster carers who are:

  • Local to the centre –  ideally within 30-40 minutes, and able to travel to collect and return puppies as needed.
  • Gentle and nurturing- families with the patience to care for young animals who may need a little extra TLC.
  • Flexible and committed – providing stability and support during their stay, with someone home most of the time.

Children – we are often happy to place puppies with children who are respectful of their needs.

Other pets: Most puppies are suitable to live with friendly pets, so long as care is taken through introductions, however, as they often aren’t vaccinated, any existing dogs will need proof of vaccination. Opposite genders will need to be neutered.

Why Foster with CDCH?

We go out of our way to ensure the care and welfare of our animals is top priority – you will be given all the equipment you need for your foster puppy and it’s free – all costs are covered by CDCH.

By fostering, you can help a puppy avoid the worrying kennel environment, while also freeing up space at our centre for us to rescue more. Plus, you’ll experience the joy of having puppies in your life without the long-term commitment!
