Raisin is a five-year-old female Shar Pei with all the delightful wrinkles and squishy charm the breed is known for. But beyond her adorable face and quirky personality is a brave little soul with a heart-breaking past. Raisin came into our care after suffering severe mistreatment and even violence on the streets. It’s been a tough road – but she hasn’t let her past define her future.

Despite everything she’s been through, Raisin is a goofy, affectionate girl who’s learning every day that people can be kind. She may be a little head-shy and wary of new people, but once she knows you’re safe, she’ll cover you in slobbery kisses and nuzzle into you for affection. She truly thrives with patient humans who let her take things at her own pace.

Raisin isn’t the biggest fan of other dogs and would therefore need a home where she can be the only pet and soak up all of the attention. She’s looking for a family who can continue gently helping her build confidence through calm, reward-based training. (Luckily, she’s a massive foodie — treats are definitely the way to her heart!)

Medically, Raisin is still on her journey. She struggles with uncomfortable skin issues and some alopecia, which will require ongoing vet support and a home committed to her comfort and care.
