Sheldon is a charming little Dachshund with a lovable spirit!

Born without sight, he’s adapted beautifully, using his extraordinary sense of smell to navigate the world. While he may not see, Sheldon’s clever mind and problem-solving abilities make him a fast learner, and he enjoys using his nose to explore new surroundings. His adopters will also need to ensure his home environment is easy to navigate, helping him settle in comfortably, although, once he has found his way around, he is quite confident in investigating on his own, and this will not stop him finding a cosy spot on the sofa (with the help of a step up).

His lack of sight has helped him develop super powers in other areas and he is always eager to engage in fun training sessions for a tasty treat. Due to this, he would benefit from lots of enrichment at home to keep his brain busy, such as scent games in the garden, puzzle feeders and toys!

After coming into rescue when his previous home couldn’t meet his needs, Sheldon has understandably found the transition to kennels a little overwhelming, however, he has quickly made friends with his carers and never fails to brighten their day with his excitement and affection. Sheldon enjoys daily strolls in peaceful countryside settings, where he can take in the world through scent – he would be best suited to flat terrain and open spaces where he can safely explore at his own pace. He may be a little cautious of other dogs, causing him to react, so a home with no expectations of making four legged friends would be ideal.

Due to his lack of sight, he can be wary of new people and sensitive to unfamiliar sounds, so he would thrive in a calm, quiet home with minimal visitors to worry him. Older children 14 years + may be considered, so long as they are very understanding of his sensitivities. His new family will need to introduce new experiences and people gently, and give him the time he needs to build confidence.

With the right support, we have no doubt that Sheldon will flourish into a devoted and loving companion. He has an adorably cheeky character, and will never fail to brighten someone’s day, so if you think you can offer him the supportive, stable and loving home he needs, then complete a perfect match form below.
