Tato is a young Lab X who is ready to find his forever home.

This handsome chap has quickly adapted to his new carers here at the centre and has already proven himself to be a friendly pup who clearly adores human company, making him a wonderful addition to any family who enjoys spending quality time with their furry friends. As expected with his young age, Tato is an energetic and affectionate boy who is always excited to see his favourite people, often greeting them with a tail wag or jumping up to say hello – while he only want to express his love,  he would be best suited to a home with older children (15 years and up) who are comfortable with his bouncy nature.

Tato us happiest when being kept busy and joining his humans on walks where he can explore and burn off some of his youthful energy. He still has room to grow and learn, so a family who want to carry out some basic training of their own would be great – Tato would benefit from some additional confidence building, as he can be tentative around unfamiliar items, causing him to become spooked (he is a big baby at heart). Due to this, he needs an understanding family who can help him through positive reinforcement and gentle introductions to new experiences.

Tato has previously lived with another dog and has also enjoyed meeting new doggy friends here at the centre, often giving a tail wag once he has sussed them out, however,  he is looking for a home where he can be the only dog – this is because he has shown some resource-guarding behaviors around food in the past (towards the other dog in the home). This should not be an issue in his new home, so long as adopters are mindful when socialising around other dogs if food or treats are involved.

Ideal Home:

  • Active family or individuals who can provide Tato with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation
  • Older children (15+) who are comfortable with a bouncy, energetic dog
  • A home where Tato can be the only dog, ensuring he gets all the love and attention he deserves

Considerations:

As Tato is young, he remains un-neutered at this time – his adopters should be happy to keep him on-lead in public until this procedure has been done, to avoid risk to other dogs. They should also be willing to return to the centre when he reaches an appropriate age for this procedure to be carried out (homes over a 1.5 hour travel distance, will receive a neuter voucher towards the cost instead).
