Could you provide a loving forever home for a senior pup like Rocky?

Rocky is a very sweet older gentleman who arrived in the care of CDCH following a bad case of neglect, where he was discovered by RSPCA inspectors living in squalid conditions, severely matted and covered in faeces and dirt (see before images). After some much needed attention and TLC, his uncomfortable coat was removed, to reveal a cute little Westie underneath, and thankfully, apart from some sore itchy skin, he was not suffering from anything more serious.

Now much happier in his own skin, Rocky is ready to find a retirement home, where he can continue to enjoy the home comforts his foster family have given him, and live stress and worry free. Rocky has an adorable quirky smile and is loved by all the staff and volunteers at the centre – he always gives affection and cuddles in return for some fuss! Being an older boy, he prefers the slower pace of life, but don’t let his age fool you, he still has some bounce in his step and is always happy to embark on little adventures when the opportunity arises.

Rocky can be a little upset by being left alone and prefers to be by someone’s side, so would make the perfect little shadow pup, and be best suited to a home where someone could be around for most of the day to keep him company (or take him out and about with them). He has been worried when around children, so would prefer a family with a minimum age of 15 years. Apart from these basic needs, Rocky doesn’t ask for much  – so long as he has companionship, a cosy bed and tranquil environment, he will thrive. One thing he will demand is his meals – this boy is a big foodie and gets rather impatient if you make him wait for his breakfast or supper – you may have to hide all his tasty treats as he would likely sniff them out if he can!

This handsome chap is very well behaved when meeting other dogs and will walk nicely alongside them during his walks, but he doesn’t show much interest and chooses to keep his space. He may be more suited to being the only dog in the home, where he can get all the fuss and love to himself, however, we would be open to considering a home with another calm and respectful dog who doesn’t invade his space. Due to Rocky’s previous home experience when he was expected to toilet indoors, he has a little work to do in regards to toilet training, as he is not familiar with garden access and asking to go out, however, this is something his foster carer has started working on.

Medical:

Rocky has some basic health needs (itchy skin), so is receiving daily tablets to help keep him comfortable, and has regular baths too. As expected with Rocky’s age, he has shown some occasional joint discomfort following too much exercise, which is likely age related wear and tear – his adopters would need to be mindful of this and monitor his exercise levels.

If you think you can give Rocky’s the final forever home and future he deserves, then complete a perfect match form to register your interest today – he will repay you by being the loving and forgiving lap dog we know him to be!
