Zeus, our handsome, young and energetic Akita x German Shepherd is on the hunt for an active, fun-loving family to give him the adventurous life he needs – if you’re someone who enjoys the outdoors, exploring new trails, or going on exciting weekend adventures, then this boy is the perfect companion for you!

Ideal home:

Super friendly and full of love, Zeus adores every person he meets – he is always enthusiastic to say hi and may jump and a few face licks, so a family who don’t mind the odd slobbery kiss, and who are confident with larger bouncy and playful breeds would be ideal. Zeus has sadly been used to being kept in a crate for long periods of time before his arrival at CDCH, therefore, he now needs some understanding adopters who are keen to give him the lifestyle and guidance he deserves. He’s eager to learn and super motivated by treats, so adopters who are willing to continue to work on his basic training, will soon help him become a well-mannered companion.

As Zeus is a clever chap who likes to keep his brain busy, he will settle best in to a home where someone is around to keep him company and offer him plenty of mental stimulation. He is known to suffer from some separation anxiety, therefore, will need to be gradually built up to being left – puzzle toys, interactive games, and plenty of exercise will be essential during his settling period, and will help keep him happy.

Other pets:

While this friendly guy loves people, he’s shown some barrier frustration behaviours when meeting other dogs, meaning he can pull and bark on lead, due to this he would do best as the only dog in the home. With the right guidance, he has the potential to learn how to meet new furry friends more politely. His new family should be excited to help him with his training and socialisation, as he’s a smart boy with loads of potential. Zeus is not suitable to living with cats or other smaller furry animals, as he is likely to chase them.

Health:

Zeus is a healthy young dog, but he is not yet neutered, therefore, will be due to have this carried out soon by our veterinary team – he may need to return to the centre following his adoption on an arranged date.

Zeus has his carers laughing daily with his goofy personality, so if you’re ready to welcome a lively, and fun loving dog like him in to your home, then he would love to meet you – complete an application form below to register your interest:
