Free Cat Microchipping Event

Friday 24th November 2023 (12:00PM - 2:00PM) at CDCH, GL2 7AS

Here at CDCH, we advocate for the importance of microchipping your cat.

A microchip is a great way to ensure that your cat can be identified, and reunited with you should they go missing or are handed in to a vet.

A small chip, the size of a grain of rice is inserted underneath the skin, between the shoulder blades. This chip contains a code that when registered online, holds your details so that your cat can be easily identified.

Cats are known to wander far from home, with an estimated 100,000 going missing every year. In the event that you cat goes missing, and is taken to a vet or a rescue centre, they will be able to scan the chip to obtain your details, and you and your furry friend will be reunited.

On 10th June 2024, it will become a legal requirement for all cats to be microchipped, with a £500 fine issued to owners who fail to comply with this.

CDCH’s microchip clinic provides an opportunity for owners to receive free microchipping, and be proactive in protecting their cats before the government legislation is introduced.

A HUGE thank you to Stroud District Council for funding this event.
