Help CDCH raise awareness by becoming an in-store volunteer

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home has partnered up with Yate Pets at Home for 2022, and now that Covid restrictions have been lifted we are looking for volunteers to represent our charity in-store.  We want to be able to make the most of this partnership and ensure that we have a regular presence at Yate store.  This is a great opportunity to showcase our work, raise vital funds, engage directly with the store team (The Groom Room & Vets4Pets) and customers.

We will provide information leaflets, branded t-shirt, a stand, card reader and merchandise. Pets at Home actively encourage us to come up with inventive ways to raise funds for our cause.  This can be through bake sales, raffles and tombolas, guess the treats in the jar, whatever you can think of!

We will ensure you are fully informed about the work we do and you will join a team of other volunteers who are also passionate about animal welfare.

Pets at Home also collect donations from customers which we pick up and bring back to our centre for the animals. You can help by regularly attending the store to empty the basket.

If you think you can inspire new supporters to donate by using your passion to help a cause you can believe in then get in touch today! Fundraising@cdch.org.uk

What’s in it for you?

Volunteering has its own rewards and benefits. You get to be part of something so much bigger, a cause that may even be very close to your heart. Meet like minded individuals who care as much as you and succeed in getting those much needed sponsors and donors that allow us to keep providing the amazing care for our animals.

Our volunteers are such an important part of our charity and our community is ever growing, so why not become part of it?

You will be expected to:

  • Book your time in advance so we can arrange it with the store team
  • Sign into the visitor’s book on arrival and when leaving.
  • Any money you raise on the day should be taken away with you at the end of the event – we will provide card readers as most people do not carry cash.
  • Complete a store attendance form at the end of each visit and return to CDCH.
  • We will provide a t-shirt and ID (or letter of authority)
  • Bring a small table and/or display information and fundraising materials which we will provide. You will need to transport this to the store yourself.
  • We are not allowed to collect Direct Debit payments however we can promote information for customers to take away with them. We would like this to take priority over a single donation so we ask that you mention this when you talk to customers.
  • Adhere to any government/store guidelines/restrictions that may be in place due to Covid or similar.
  • Be respectful of customers and colleagues when setting up in store following any safety requirements and ensure there is plenty of space around your table and event area.
  • You must have Public Liability Insurance and a copy of the certificate should be brought to every event – we will provide a copy for you to keep if you are regularly attending the store.
  • Share with the Pets at Home Foundation team details your day; monies raised, focus of the day etc – this can be included on the attendance form you are asked to complete.
  • Take photos – we can share to our social media accounts to raise even more awareness.
  • Finally have fun! This is a brilliant opportunity to talk to pet loving customers about the great work we do in their local community.
Thank you image
