Louis’s medical bills have left us no option but to put out this emergency fundraising appeal in the hope that you can help us raise enough money to cover the costs of Louis’s extensive veterinary treatment.
Louis is an approximately 4-year-old Maine coon cat.
Louis arrived at the centre in an awful state with dirt and grime encrusted into his matted coat, he had pus in his eyes, nasal discharge, wheezy breathing and a heart murmur along with surface wounds from repetitive Tom cat fighting.
We believe Louis had been surviving out as a stray for some time before coming to the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats home, and already he has been made considerably more comfortable since his arrival.
Louis has been given a safe, warm place to rest as well as receiving emergency veterinary treatment at both Vale Vets and here at the Centre from our Vet Mo, this treatment has already come at a significant cost to the centre.
Louis’s treatment has Included blood tests, antibiotics for his flu-type symptoms, eyedrops, painkillers, and de-matting to what he would tolerate.
However, this is just the beginning for Louis and he urgently needs your help to receive surgery for both his eyes.
Louis has been diagnosed with an extremely painful condition where sadly both of his eyes are affected.
This condition is called entropion, it is where his eyelid is turned inwards and rubbing against his eyeball causing scratching, irritation, and continuous infections in both of his eyes.
Alongside neutering, vaccinations, and a further de-matt, Louis requires urgent corrective surgery on his eyes.
This will enable him to have a pain-free life but also protect him from further infection or even sight loss if he is left untreated.
Louis has also sadly been diagnosed with a heart murmur, and he requires a heart scan that will sadly cost the centre further hundreds of pounds. This will assess whether he has underlying heart disease and give a fuller picture of his needs.
Please note, all money raised will first be used on whatever treatment and care Louis needs. Any additional funds will go towards other animals at the centre.
