Max’s Story – A Golden Oldie Finding Comfort and Hope

When Max arrived at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home, he was a little older and a little slower, but full of the same boundless love that every dog has to give.

Max’s life changed suddenly when his devoted owner became seriously ill and could no longer care for him.

It was a heart breaking decision, but with incredible love and courage, they entrusted Max to us knowing we would make sure he received the care, comfort, and kindness he so deserves in his golden years.

From the moment Max padded through our doors, he melted hearts.

His gentle soul and kind eyes spoke volumes, and it didn’t take long for our team to fall completely in love with him.

Max needed a little extra tender loving care.

Our vet team carried out a large dental procedure, ran thorough health checks, and started him on ongoing pain relief to ease his stiffness and help him feel more comfortable. Now, thanks to this care, Max has blossomed.

He’s currently thriving in a loving foster home, enjoying the warmth and security that every older dog deserves.
He’s settled in beautifully, spending his days soaking up the sunshine, enjoying soft beds, and making new friends, and he’s now ready to begin his search for a forever family.
Stories like Max’s remind us just how vital it is to be there when animals need us the most, whether they’re young pups or golden oldies.

Join our promise to always be here for animals at every stage of their lives, ensuring they receive the love, care, and security they deserve.

As Bonfire Night and scary season fast approach, the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home are urging the public to choose kindness over fireworks, by donating the cost of going to a firework display to help care for dogs during this stressful time of year.
