Bailey’s Story

When Bailey first arrived at CDCH, she was in a sorry state. She had tarmac stuck to her fur and the look of a dog who’d been living outside for far too long. She was exhausted, and unsure what would happen next.

We gave Bailey a warm bath, a nutritious meal, and a safe place to rest.

She started to relax and show us who she really was  gentle, loving, and so grateful for every bit of kindness.

What we didn’t know was that Bailey was also carrying a precious secret.

After her initial veterinary check-up, an ultrasound revealed something incredible.

Bailey was pregnant and only a couple of weeks away from giving birth.

We knew she needed somewhere safe and comfortable to experience what every mum deserves: warmth, love, and peace.

Join us by donating just £3 a month, and help us give every Bailey the happy ending they deserve.

Thanks to our dedicated foster network, we found her the perfect foster family, a kind home with a soft sofa to rest on, gentle hands to comfort her, and the reassurance that she was safe.

Her foster family were incredible, supported by CDCH they made sure Bailey felt safe and loved right through her final weeks of pregnancy.

Just a short while later, Bailey gave birth to Twelve healthy pups:
Amber, Bronze, Biscuit, Caramel, Cocoa, Fawn, Henna, Honey, Sienna, Toffee, Truffle, and Walnut.

One tired but happy Mum and, Twelve tiny lives that would never have known safety without your support.

Now, with one rescue dog suddenly becoming thirteen, our work has only just begun.

Every single one needs food, vaccinations, parasite control and microchips before they’re ready for their forever homes. Then when the time comes, to be neutered.

We’ve made Bailey a promise, this may not have been her first litter, but it will certainly be her last. She’ll never have to do this again.

We will provide her ongoing veterinary support and, when the time is right, she too will be neutered.
