Rosie’s Story

Vet Costs Are Rising - Animals Like Rosie Are Paying the Price

Rosie is a gentle Cocker Spaniel with the kind of heart that feels everything deeply. Her soft eyes carry quiet kindness, and her wagging tail is always quick to offer comfort.

Lately, though, life hasn’t been easy for her. She’s faced more than a sweet soul like hers ever should. But even through the tough times, Rosie’s loving nature hasn’t faded. She still leans in for gentle pets, still stays close and still trusts with that same open heart.

She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t just live in your home, she lives in your heart, and no matter what she’s been through, her quiet strength and affection continues to shine through, reminding everyone around her what unconditional love truly looks like.

Rising veterinary costs are putting incredible pressure on charities like ours.
Specialist surgeries can cost thousands, and recent research by the Competition and Markets Authority shows vet bills are rising nearly twice as fast as inflation. This means more owners are delaying treatment or surrendering their pets, and our charity is facing more demand than ever to help every animal that comes through our doors.
Donations help fund Rosie’s care and ensures we can continue helping more animals in need.

Rosie is a gentle cocker spaniel with a big heart. She’s come into our care facing serious health challenges, and while she’s older and more fragile than some, she still has so much love to give.

When Rosie arrived, we immediately began treating her painful eyes for conjunctivitis and investigating possible dry eye. She had bloods taken, received flea treatment, and was given a gentle bath to soothe her sore skin. Antibiotic eye drops were started straight away, along with pain relief for her stiff hind legs and dental disease.

But Rosie’s journey isn’t over..
She needs extensive dental treatment including extractions, chest X-rays, mammary tumour removal, neutering, and ongoing skin care to keep her comfortable. Every step of her treatment is vital to give her the chance to enjoy her golden years free from pain.

Vet bills have risen sharply, and we’re seeing more animals handed in because their owners simply can’t afford the care they need.

Too often, dogs and cats come to us with conditions that should have been treated long ago, but sadly, they weren’t. We always recommend speaking to your vet if you’re worried about costs, because there are often ways to get help and support for your pet’s care.
