This is an opportunity for any local individuals or families, who are interested in the possibility of caring for a foster animal to….
*Meet the dedicated team at CDCH:
find out all you need to know about our general fostering service and ‘safe space’ scheme, the types of animals in need and how it all works – we are happy to answer all the questions you may have.
*Meet some of the people behind the wonderful organisations we collaborate with:
learn about the important services they provide and how fostering can also benefit them.
Plus, enjoy a hot drink and some baked treats!
We work with multiple organisations within our local community, to provide assistance to animals, and sometimes their humans too!
A few of these organisations we collaborate with are:
RSPCA – The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
OPCC – Office of the police & Crime Commissioner, Gloucestershire
GDASS – Gloucestershire domestic abuse support services
Stroud Women’s Refuge – Beresford Group
Working closely with GDASS and Stroud Women Refuge, CDCH provides a Safe Space Scheme.
This scheme provides a pet fostering service for individuals fleeing domestic abuse, that provides support and care to their pets while they are temporarily unable to.
Our project offers a solution to a vulnerable situation, and enables an individual to flee to safety.
Refuges offer a place of safety but are sadly often unable to accept pets meaning that in many cases individuals experiencing domestic abuse are unable, or reluctant to leave their home until they know there is somewhere safe for their pet.
Our Safe Space scheme provides no-cost pet care enabling vulnerable individuals and families access to a refuge without the fear of what could happen to their pet.
The animals from the Safe Space Scheme are still very much-loved pets whose owners have found themselves in a vulnerable position, meaning they need a temporary home for them while they get back on their feet.
This type of foster can often be longer term (months to a year), but ultimately means we can reunite animals with their owners when the time is right.
We’re looking for compassionate individuals to become fosters through our Safe Space Scheme.
You’ll offer a temporary home to pets whose owners are going through challenging times but still love them deeply. Fostering can last from a few months to a year, but your care will make a world of difference. When the time is right, you’ll help reunite these beloved animals with their families. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact, please consider becoming a foster today.
-Our Safe Space scheme is supported and funded by: The Pet Foundation & Julian Hans Rousing Trust

Without regular donations, we would struggle to meet the daily needs of our animals, limiting our ability to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome them. Moreover, sustained support allows us to plan for future rescues and expand our efforts, ultimately saving more lives.
If possible, do let us know of your potential visit by emailing RehomingTeam@cdch.org.uk, with your name, group number, species of interest and preferred arrival time.
(We ask you to kindly leave your canine companions at home – as you may be lucky enough to meet some of CDCH’s four legged friends)
