Dog-Friendly Places to Eat in the Cotswolds

If there’s one thing we never tire of in the Cotswolds, it’s discovering dog-friendly places to eat – those welcoming pubs and cafés where dogs are treated like VIPs, complete with biscuit jars and the occasional pup-friendly menu. Whether you’ve just returned from a bracing stomp through the hills or you’re catching up over coffee with your four-legged sidekick, finding a cosy, canine-welcoming spot is all part of the adventure.

After countless rambles, flat whites, and Sunday roasts across the region, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite places to eat that go the extra mile for dogs. From roaring fires in rustic inns to brunch spots with sun-soaked courtyards and farm shop cafés with wide-open outdoor space, there’s something for every appetite and walking route.

Read on for local gems and hidden treasures that both you and your pup will love.

The Farmer's Dog, Burford

Jeremy Clarkson’s headline-grabbing pub delivers on substance as well as style, with proper pints, hearty food, and a warm welcome for muddy boots and paws alike. Dogs are greeted with biscuits and allowed inside the pub and in the beer tent, while humans tuck into farm-sourced favourites like steak pie, crispy chicken burgers, and seasonal crumbles. The laid-back marquee is ideal for walkers, and with a well-stocked shop and butcher next door, it’s a great pit stop mid-adventure.

Café 53, Tetbury

A local favourite in the heart of Tetbury, this stylish café serves up generous portions, great coffee, and plenty of tail wags. Dogs are welcome both inside and out in the sunny courtyard garden, where a water bowl is always on hand. You might even be greeted by Bear, the café’s resident pup. It’s the kind of place where locals linger, and dogs blend right into the laid-back, community vibe.

Jolly Nice, Frampton Mansell

Part farm shop, part café, part bar, and even home to a dog-friendly drive-through, Jolly Nice lives up to its name. This eco-conscious spot welcomes dogs on leads throughout, with sprawling outdoor seating and homemade dog treats in the shop. Expect feel-good food made from local produce, from breakfast baps to flatbreads and artisanal ice cream. It’s the perfect post-walk stop, or an ideal place to fuel up before a woodland wander.

The Woolpack Inn, Slad

Set in the poetic landscape of the Slad Valley and made famous by Laurie Lee’s Cider with Rosie, The Woolpack oozes literary charm and countryside character. Dogs are allowed throughout this cosy pub with its beamed ceilings and valley views. Expect fuss from the staff, hearty seasonal food like lamb shoulder and fresh trout, and a terrace made for lazy afternoons after a hilltop hike.

The Porch House, Stow-on-the-Wold

Reputedly England’s oldest inn, The Porch House blends centuries of history with a relaxed, dog-loving atmosphere. Pups are welcome in the bar and garden, with the occasional treat on offer too. The food is a polished take on classic pub fare, including standout Sunday roasts and game dishes. An excellent reward after a stroll around this charming market town.

The Wild Rabbit, Kingham

For something a little more refined, The Wild Rabbit – part of the Daylesford estate – offers organic, seasonal food with serious style. Dogs are very welcome in the bar and garden, where water bowls and biscuits await. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely lunch or dinner after a countryside walk, with dishes ranging from wood-fired meats to vibrant plant-based plates.

The Lygon Arms, Broadway

A 600-year-old coaching inn steeped in history, The Lygon Arms is a Cotswold icon that fully embraces canine guests. Dogs are welcome in several dining areas, including the cosy Russell Room, and can even order from a dedicated dog menu featuring steak or chicken casserole. With treats at check-in, fireside lounges to curl up in, and elegant surroundings, this is dog-friendly dining done in true Cotswold style.

The Fuzzy Duck, Armscote

A little off the beaten path but worth the drive, The Fuzzy Duck offers modern British dining with a side of muddy paws. Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden, with water bowls and treats (plus loan-wellies for humans caught in a downpour). The food is inventive and satisfying – think crispy duck salad, truffle fries, and slow-cooked lamb shank. One for the design-conscious foodie and their dog.
