Help Bruno Get Back On His Feet

Bruno, the 8-month-old German Shepherd cross, came into our care last month. He had suffered an injury in his previous home causing him to break his right front leg.

He underwent an operation before he came into our care but it was clear his leg was still causing him some issues walking and likely a lot of pain.

His leg looked as if it had healed at an odd angle at the level of his metacarpals (the bones in his paw). Bruno also had noticeable carpal hyperextension (an abnormality of the wrist joint that causes hyperextension).

Bruno is a fun-loving puppy! Despite his condition, he is very affectionate and loves to curl up on your lap for lots of kisses and cuddles.

We booked Bruno in as quickly as we could to have X-rays taken of his leg at Vale Vets, Dursley to assess how the fracture was healing. Although not completely straight, the fracture repair was doing well, so it was decided to try and rest, receive pain relief and monitor for any persistent lameness. As he is a young dog, we were hoping it would fully heal without long-term complications.

Despite initially doing great and weight-bearing nicely on his leg, sadly, he now has lameness and pain on that leg again. Further investigations were needed.

Bruno has now received a CT scan at Vale Vets, Dursley to give us a better idea about whether further surgery would be the next stage of treatment.

As we eagerly await the results, Bruno is now being rested and receiving pain relief.

Can you help us cover the initial costs of Bruno's investigations?

We expect the costs to continue to rise once we know the next form of treatment. But his medical costs are already around £1,150 (Xray, CT scan and pain relief).

Can you sponsor Bruno through his treatment? Just £10 a month could really help this boy get back on his feet.

Or, if you would rather make a one off donation to help with Bruno’s treatment, you can do so by clicking the button below. No donation is too small.

Once we have the results from the CT scan we will be sure to keep you updated.

Thank you for your support.
