Meet G-Boy: Life As A Stray Cat Is Rarely Easy

G-Boy arrived at the centre shy and unsure. With dirt and grime encrusted into his coat, he was carrying the physical reminders of his years as a stray.

He had a painful abscess under his chin, a corneal ulcer affecting his eye, and surface wounds and scars from repeated tomcat fighting.

For years, G-Boy navigated the world alone.
G-Boy - Ginger Tom Cat
Through cold winters, heavy rain, and the heat of long summer days, he had to fend for himself. Finding food wherever he could. Searching for somewhere dry and safe to rest.
Learning when to stand his ground and when to quietly slip away.
The streets can be unforgiving for a stray cat. Scratches, wounds, and scars from territorial tomcat fights became part of his story,  battles he likely never wanted but had little choice to avoid.

Please, help G-Boy today. Your support can bring him one step closer to the loving home he has been waiting for all his life.
Yet despite everything he had been through, G-Boy never completely gave up on people.
Over the last couple of years, some kind members of the local community began looking out for him.
They made sure he had food, shelter and showed him generous acts of kindness.
Slowly and cautiously, G-Boy started to learn that not all humans meant danger. With the help of a veterinary voucher to cover costs, he was taken to a vet where he received some treatment and was neutered, this was an important step that helped make life on the streets a little easier for G-Boy.
Now, two years later, this big, beautiful ginger boy has now finally found his way to us at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.
When G-Boy arrived, it was clear he had been through a lot. Our veterinary team acted quickly to give him the care he urgently needed. With antibiotics, pain relief, and time to rest somewhere safe and warm, G-Boy has already made progress on his journey.
We’re pleased to say his chin abscess is clearing up nicely and his corneal ulcer has healed, a huge relief for everyone caring for him.
As he begins to feel more comfortable, he’s also started eating better, which is another positive step forward in his care.
Unfortunately G-Boy’s journey isn’t over yet.
During his examinations we discovered he has missing teeth and a fractured lower canine. He now urgently needs a full dental procedure, which will include fluids, dental X-rays, a complete mouth assessment, a scale and polish, and the removal of any teeth that are causing him pain and can be safely extracted.
This level of veterinary care comes at a significant cost to the centre, but it’s care that G-Boy desperately needs and deserves.
Despite everything he’s been through, G-Boy’s gentle nature is beginning to shine through. As he settles into the cattery and starts to feel safe, he’s slowly learning that life doesn’t have to be about survival anymore
He has already won over the hearts of the team here, one of our cattery assistants shared:

G-Boy arrived with us feeling nervous and unsure, but with patience, care, and plenty of treats, he’s slowly discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place.

G-Boy is truly a Good Boy and is coming out of his shell as he receives the medical treatment he needs. This gentle boy is looking for calm reassurance where he can continue building his confidence and enjoy life at his own pace.

He really has the sweetest personality and loves quiet head rubs.
