No animal should suffer alone, especially during the festive season.
Unfortunately, with the ongoing crisis of rising living costs, abandonment, and neglect, this will be the reality for many animals. The CDCH is here to support and protect animals in need. Not just for Christmas, but for life.

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home is currently facing a surge in animals being surrendered, a drop in rehoming interest, and skyrocketing increase in costs. We are asking for public support to meet the growing demand for our services.
Rising Animal Abandonment: 34%* increase in animal abandonment.
Rehoming demand drop: Those looking to adopt has dropped by over 50%* since pre-covid levels.
Escalating costs: In the past year, veterinary costs have surged by 20%*, which means everything we do to care for our animals is now more expensive.
This Christmas, the need to support animals has surged, reflecting a significant rise in requests for our services. Last year, CDCH assisted over 1,000 animals, but escalating expenses and the ongoing cost of living crisis have intensified the demand for our assistance.
Additionally, we’re frequently caring for more animals with complex needs, which prolongs and deepens the rehoming process. Each animal needs dedicated care, time, and love so they can live a happy, bright future.
Our dedicated team work tirelessly to address the issues faced by each animal, rebuilding trust and providing care and support for every animal that comes through our doors.
Together we can provide the safety, warmth and love these animals need, ensuring we are not only providing a home for Christmas but preparing them for a home for life.
Meet Benny,
A brave soul who spent six months in our care before finally finding his forever home.
Benny was abandoned, due to no fault of his own. When he arrived he was underweight and struggling with several health issues.
His teeth were in poor condition due to dental disease, he had bad skin and was slightly lame. Understandably, Benny was also very nervous.
Benny needed extensive care, and our team dedicated themselves to his recovery, ensuring he received everything he needed to regain his health and spirit.
During his time with us, Benny received daily medication to help his skin, 186 days of joint supplements, and a total of 372 meals.
He also underwent a dental treatment, castration and was sedated to safely remove painful matting from his fur, alongside many veterinary appointments and medication reviews.
Through patient care, training, and love, Benny began to heal physically and emotionally.
Finally, after months of rehabilitation, Benny found his forever home, leaving his past of abandonment behind for a fresh start filled with hope and love.
Benny's personality is as big as his love for countryside walks, training, and play!
He really was a huge character here at CDCH, and after 6 months we could not be more pleased for Benny, going on to his next chapter when he found his perfect match.

With the challenges we’re facing, your contribution can make a real difference this Christmas.
Meet Mr Grimble,
A 14 year old ginger cat, who came into our care after becoming unwell.
Mr Grimble the gorgeous ginger boy arrived into our care through no fault of his own, his owner was unable to care for him any longer, and he had fallen ill, showing signs of weight loss, along with strange behaviours and elevated thirst.
Through a series of blood tests we soon discovered that Mr Grimble has diabetes, which requires a special diet, daily insulin injections, and regular veterinary check-ups to monitor his blood glucose levels.
Mr Grimble spent a total of 7 months, that’s 238 days with us, during which he received 476 insulin injections, consumed 952 diabetic wet food pouches, and went through 7 bags of dry diabetic biscuits.
Additionally, he required several veterinary appointments and blood tests before finally finding his forever home.
CDCH has promised to be there and will continue to support Mr Grimble and his adopter through out his life ensuring that all his medical Diabetic needs are met.

After spending such a long time in our care it is so nice to know that he has gone to his forever home, where he is now living his best life, supported by CDCH.
It's such an honour to have been part of his journey.
Mr Grimble’s journey highlights the increasing costs of caring for the many animals with complex needs.
With veterinary bills on the rise and animals staying longer in our care, we urgently need support to continue providing the life-saving care these animals deserve.
