Volunteering at CDCH Charity Shops

At the Cotswold Dogs & Cats Home, we would be lost without our dedicated shop volunteers!

Shop volunteers help us in most aspects of running our charity shops. And all the money raised goes straight to the care of most vulnerable animals in our community.

Why volunteer with CDCH?

Our volunteers come from all different backgrounds and volunteer for many different reasons. But they all have one thing in common – they want to make a difference.

The benefits of volunteering are endless! We caught up with two of our volunteers, here is what they had to say about their experience of volunteering at their local CDCH charity shops:

Why did you start volunteering for Cotswold Dogs & Cats Home?

I am passionate about animals. Also for the social side of volunteering. It helps my mental health. It’s good to get out and about!

What is your favourite thing about working within our retail stores?

Coming from a fashion background, I like to see all the interesting fashion in Stroud. I also like interacting with the customers.

What would you say to people thinking about volunteering?

Give it a go, there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Sharon, Volunteer promoted to Deputy Manager,  Nailsworth

Why did you start volunteering for Cotswold Dogs & Cats Home?

I had been a loyal customer of the Nailsworth shop when I was invited to participate in a fashion show (more curvy figures were required)!

I enjoyed it so much, I started volunteering at the shop. This was 8 years ago. Since then, I have been promoted to Deputy Manager!

What is your favourite thing about working within our retail stores?

When I was a volunteer, I used to help on Saturday mornings. I liked the fact that Saturdays were busy and greatly enjoyed meeting the customers and generally helping out.

My favourite part of my current role is meeting people and working with the volunteers.

What would you say to people thinking about volunteering?

Our volunteers are a fundamental part of the team and key to the success of the shop.

For anyone thinking of volunteering, I would say go for it. It’s interesting and fun.”

After hearing from our volunteers, are you thinking about volunteering?

Joining our team couldn’t be easier!

Visit your local shop or click below to send us an email.

You will be invited for a taster session where you will meet the team and we will answer all your questions.

Our priority is to ensure volunteering is a fun and fulfilling experience. Please email us below and we can answer any questions you may have about our volunteering roles.
