Help Vulnerable Cats & Kittens This Spring

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home is issuing an urgent appeal for donations this Spring, as we face an overwhelming surge in vulnerable cats and kittens needing our help.

Every contribution goes directly towards providing food, safety, and veterinary care supporting them in their journey until they’re ready to find a loving forever home.

We recently welcomed two heavily pregnant cats, both due to give birth any day now.
They both have warm comfortable beds, full tummies, and are surrounded by love, care.
Our team on standby to ensure their safety and comfort.
Right now, we have two litters of kittens on-site and two more expectant mums preparing to give birth any day now
Alongside them, we already have many other cats patiently waiting for their forever homes.
In just the first few months of 2025, we’ve already taken in 48 unwanted, abandoned and vulnerable cats, that's an average of three cats every single week.
Tragically, the number of reported cat abandonment cases has continued to rise every year since 2021, painting a stark picture of the deepening animal welfare crisis in the UK.

Every contribution goes directly towards providing food, safety, and veterinary care supporting them in their journey until they’re ready to find a loving forever home.

Abandonment Is On The Rise

According to the RSPCA, abandonment reports have risen year on year, from 2021, tragically, due to the increase of factors such as the surge in pet ownership during the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis.

This has made it more challenging for some pet owners to care for their animals and we are seeing the same pattern locally, with the number of cats needing urgent care continuing to climb.

Basic veterinary treatment for abandoned cats has already cost our charity thousands of pounds in just the first half of this year, straining our resources to the limit.
We urgently need your support.

Every contribution goes directly towards providing food, safety, and veterinary care supporting them in their journey until they’re ready to find a loving forever home.

Behind these shocking statistics are the faces of a vulnerable animals, each a precious life in urgent need of care.

With abandonments soaring and rescue centres stretched to capacity, we’re concerned about the months ahead.

This kitten season could be one of the busiest we've ever faced and we’re calling on animal lovers to join forces and donate, so together we can be there for every cat and kitten that needs us.

Sam Herniman - Individual Giving Fundraiser

Every contribution goes directly towards providing food, safety, and veterinary care supporting them in their journey until they’re ready to find a loving forever home.

Vet bills like all our other costs are rising, anything raised above the cats and kitten’s needs will be used to help animals just like them at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.

We aren’t currently accepting applications for our kittens, but as soon as they are ready to find new homes we will update our website.
